A magnitude-6 earthquake rattled parts of Melbourne and regional Victoria this morning, with reports of some damaged buildings in the state's south-east.

Geoscience Australia detected the earthquake around Mansfield in Victoria's north-east around 9:15am and was 10-kilometres deep.

Believe it or not, at the time presenter Ross Kay happened to be chatting with Dr Kate Brady who is based in Melbourne.

They were speaking about Dr Brady's new podcast, "After the Disaster". It was made in conjunction with ABC Emergency and looks at aspects of disaster recovery.
