Last year, Absolute Radio and Cash for Kids did a campaign to raise awareness of period poverty among young women in the UK. It was really inspiring to hear our presenters and see the reaction from audiences. This morning I did a call with a charity in Africa which had seen it and wanted to work with us to get other radio stations globally to do similar campaigns. Fingers crossed other stations will come on-board to help charities (particularly in Africa) to end period poverty for good. Glad to be a part of it. #absoluteradio #cashforkids #periodpoverty

In May 2021, we launched Absolute Radio Country, the newest member of the family. We wanted to diversify further from the decade strategy to grow the network audience. Country fitted perfectly with the brand's Real Music Matters values because of the authenticity of the music and song-writing, live performing ethos of the artists. In that time, the audience has more than doubled, the social strategy has reached 10s of millions, we've welcomed the biggest stars in the world into the studio, gone national on DAB+, partnered with exciting events and become the UK's No.1 Country Music station. Today Absolute Radio launched a campaign to raise awareness of the issue of period poverty. 1 in 10 women can't afford basic products and that's not acceptable. This isn't being talked-about enough and it's an issue which impacts so many women across the UK. As a station, we're also in a position to talk to the many men who listen and raise awareness of something which might be impacting their partners, daughters, friends and colleagues. The reaction today has been heart-warmingly positive (especially from male listeners). As a station we've used our platform to talk lots about men's mental health and hopefully this campaign will make a small difference too.
