Aasmah Mir, the award-winning BBC broadcaster, and Stig Abell, editor of The Times Literary Supplement, will host the weekday breakfast show on Times Radio.

They are among a slate of presenters announced today ahead of the ad-free speech station’s launch this summer.

Matt Chorley, editor of the Times Red Box newsletter and podcast, takes charge of the mid-morning slot, while Cathy Newman of Channel 4 News will anchor Friday drivetime.

Luke Jones, a recognisable voice from Radio 4’s PM and The World at One, has been poached to co-present Friday-to-Sunday breakfast with Jenny Kleeman, a journalist known for her work on Panorama and C4’s Unreported World.

The new recruits join former BBC deputy political editor John Pienaar, who was unveiled as Monday-to-Thursday
